Jurong Gateway's development is in full swing with many new developments currently under construction.
These include two retail and office developments next to Jurong East MRT station Jem and Westgate (by 2013/2014), Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Community Hospital (by 2014/2015), Devan Nair Institute (Continuing Education & Training Institute) (by 2013), and JCube shopping mall (by 2012).
URA will also be building a new pedestrian mall in the Jurong East Town Centre by end-2013 to provide seamless connectivity between Jurong Gateway and the Jurong Lake area. A new transport hub that integrates the bus interchange with the MRT station will also be developed in alignment with the growth of the surrounding developments.
Several government agencies will also relocate their offices to Jurong Gateway in the near future. Among the first to move there will be the Ministry of National Development and two of its statutory boards the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore and the Building and Construction Authority.
To continue with the development momentum of Jurong Gateway and to inject live-in population in the precinct, Residential site for private housing was awarded to MCL Land in 1H 2012 and in 2H 2012, a hotel site was awarded to Genting Singapore for a four-star hotel development to cater to business and leisure travellers.
With the recent launch of the first of many office & commercial sites at Venture Avenue by URA, I would like to take this opportunity to start a new thread to ride along with the momentum set forth by URA and EDB to develop Jurong Gateway into Singapore's biggest commercial hub outside of our city centre.
