Grand Rapids, Michigan: Heritage Hill

In October, I visited the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan again and took a tour of the Heritage Hill Historic District. Heritage Hill is the city's oldest residential district and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. The architectural styles in the neighbourhood are diverse. One notable home in the neighbourhood is the Meyer May House, built by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1908, in his traditional Prairie-Style.

The Meyer May House, built in 1908, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's trademark Prairie School Style houses. Was the first-ever FLW home constructed in Michigan.

It was built for Meyer May, a prominent Grand Rapids clothier, today it is a museum and offers tours.

The Stone Castle, was once a private residence, then a restaurant, and today is a business building, with a Dentist's Office.

Washington Street

Here at College Avenue and Logan Avenue, we encounter another Frank Lloyd Wright inspired house, the David Amberg House, built in 1910. It actually wasn't designed by Wright himself, but by his Chicago associates.
