I haven't seen a thread on this yet so I hope this will get some attention.
The Rock River Cities is the Rock River corridor from Horicon, WI to Beloit, WI. This is Dodge, Jefferson and Rock Counties. Some of the communities along this corridor are Horicon, Juneau, Clyman, Watertown, Johnson Creek, Jefferson, Fort Atkinson, Milton, Edgerton, Janesville and Beloit. The big story for a few years now has been the conversion of Wisconsin Highway 26 to a mixed 4 lane freeway/divided highway through the center of this region from Janesville to the under construction WI 16, WI 26, WI 60 Interchange between Clyman and Juneau north of Watertown. The project will be completed in 2015.
The population along this corridor is about 220,000 and has become one of the newly formed "micro" regional corridors. The Madison Metro area is to the west, Waukesha/Lake Country and the Southern Lakes are to the east and the Rockford area is to the south. Growth along this corridor will continue to be steady because it is centrally located within an hour to the suburban areas of the Fox Cities, Madison, Rockford, Milwaukee and Chicago.
