Edinburgh is to host the premiere of the new film adaptation of hit musical Sunshine on Leith. Director Dexter Fletcher will be joined by star cast members including Peter Mullan, Jane Horrocks, and Antonia Thomas along with special guests The Proclaimers for the premiere on 17 September. Dexter Fletcher said: The cast and crew of Sunshine on Leith are delighted to be bringing the film home to Edinburgh for its International Premiere. The sun shone on us every day we were in Scotland and now were happy and excited to be bringing that sunshine back. Dexter Fletcher directed the film adapted from the stage musical of the same name by Stephen Greenhorn and featuring the music of The Proclaimers. The story focuses on best friends Davy and Ally on their return from duty in Afghanistan to their lifelong residence in Leith. The film will go on general release on Friday 4 October. |
