Copenhaguen / københavn
Copenhagen is the most "European" of the Scandinavian capitals, and is quite reminiscent of some German cities. its location between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea gave it great importance in the past because this city was able to control everything that went in and out of the Baltic.
Tivoli amusement park in the center of the city close to the railway station:
A church, the spire which you can walk up to get a view of the city:
Brownfield / old port warehouses have been converted into district offices:
Nyhavn, the most touristy area in town:
Christiania, a "hippie" district, denying the consumer society, and especially smoking some kind of herb..to sum it up roughly :)
Le bâtiment à gauche est la bourse :
The famous "Little Mermaid":
Stockholm
Almost an imperial capital feel .. with the air of a seaside town. The setting is gorgeous .. the arms of sea, these islands, nature that mingles with the city. In some ways, it is quite reminiscent of Venice. Modern architecture was a bit relegated to the periphery. Still we can find some contemporary architectural achievements in the center.
The belfry of the town hall:
An expressway cuts the heart of the historic center in two:
The City Hall:
The famous Vasa ship that sank on its opening day in the 17th century and was raised in 1961:
The "City" office neighborhood:
The amusement park in the city:
Oslo
Gives quite a provincial feeling, it looks modern at first sight. In summer you can swim in the fjord, and winter skiing on the hills a few miles behind the town. The Opera has a beautiful location and a great architecture.
The City Hall:
The Vigeland statue park:
The countryside a few miles away:
Gothenburg / Göteborg
Does not look very attractive at first sight but is definitively worth a visit.
Malmö
Is a kind of binomial with Copenhagen just opposite on the other side of the Oresund. We pass easily from one to the other by train for a few crowns. This is a bit of a boomtown rapidly expanding since the opening of the fixed link over / under the Oresund.
Crossing the Oresund on the train:
Enjoy!
