Vietnams ancient architecture is divided into the following types:
1. National defense and military architecture: this is the architecture which includes bastions, citadels, city gates, etc.
2. Imperial architecture: typical architecture of feudal dynasties of Vietnam such as: citadels, forbidden city, royal tombs, imperial palaces, imperial academy..
3. Religious architecture: pagodas, towers, temples and tombs.
4. Landscape Garden architecture: landscape garden of Vietnam is influenced from the Oriental styles with some similar of Chinese and Japanese garden with three main parts: water, tree and small mountain.
5. Traditional village architecture: In 18th century, Vietnam has 11.800 villages. Each village has their own temples, religious complex, commnual houses, markets, village's main entrance...
