Sustainable Tourism Program

Overall Objective:

"To restore vitality to what was once an historic core, develop a catalyst for future growth and encourage local ownership of the development, through investment in a working pier and waterfront tourism and recreational amenities, including the enhancement of the pedestrian linkage to the area."

Project Site:

The project site encompasses public land at Placencia Point Placencia in the location of the current Municipal Pier, including shoreline waters and the 66ft reserve of beachfront. (Exact coordinates of land mass currently under negotiation).

Site selection was based on identifying:

• A core area within the community, already in use by the community.
• A site with the potential for further development and possibility for future investments.

The features of Placencia Point include its prominent location, accessibility, historic association as a core area, existence as public domain, and opportunity for expansion and commercial ventures.
