July 22, 2013 There are signs of progress at the site of White Lodgings newest downtown property the Westin Austin Downtown. Hunt Construction will build the 342-room hotel, which was designed by HKS Architects. Located at 310 E. 5th Street, the site was fenced off this past week meaning we could see some action soon. Thanks to a 180-day extension was approved by the City on July 17th, White Lodging now has until January 23, 2014 to respond to the Citys comments on their Site Development Permit application. It appears that they anticipate approval much sooner than that. Approval of the Site permit would allow demolition, sitework, and excavation to begin. The building itself is submitted under a separate permit, and that was submitted on July 19th. |
