Myanmar Airways opens Mandalay Gaya route, Dubai and Hong Kong planned
Myanmar Airways International (MAI), will launch a direct flight between Mandalay and Indian City of Gaya, it was announced on Monday, 22nd October 2012. Travellers who wants to travel to Gaya does not need to come to Yangon to make the trip from 1 November 2012. Gaya, in the state of Bihar is a historically and religiously important to follower of Buddhist religion.
According to sources, the airline which now flies to 5 countries, is poised for a significant route expansion including Dubai, Hong Kong, New Delhi, Seoul and Tokyo.
MAI is a joint venture between the state-owned Myanmar Airways and the private Royal Myanmar Transport Co. In addition to the 64-year-old state-operated domestic Myanma Airways (MA), there are also five other private-run domestic airliners in Myanmar, namely Air Mandalay, Yangon Airways, Air Bagan, Asian Wings and Air Kanbawza.
