The Metro Iloilo Circumferential Road 1 (C1) is a 14.18-kilometer road project (mostly greenfield), within a 5 to 7-kilometer radius from the center of the city at the Arroyo Fountain.
It starts from its northern terminus at the junction of the Iloilo-Dumangas Coastal Road in Balabago, Jaro District near the south bank of the Jaro Floodway (where it crosses MacArthur Drive or the Iloilo-Capiz Road), and follows a general direction of westwards along the floodway's south bank towards Tacas, Jaro and Ungka, Pavia (where it crosses the Tomas Confessor Highway to Sta. Barbara and the Iloilo International Airport), and then southwards to the Mandurriao District-Pavia-San Miguel tri-border (where it crosses the Iloilo-San Miguel-Leon-San Remegio,Antique Road), and on to Abilay, Oton then back again to Mandurriao, and ends at the Iloilo-Antique Road near the center of Arevalo District.
The highway, with an initial right-of-way (ROW) of 40 meters is designed to have a minimum of two lanes of PCCP, both ways. Some sections are divided, some are not, but the undivided sections have an extra lane dedicated to bikers.
The Metro Iloilo C1 crosses the Salog (Jaro) River, the Iloilo River and other smaller tributaries, thereby requiring the construction of at least four bridges.
Construction is on going, with three (shorter) sections (Sections C, D and E) out of five - from the Coastal Road to Tomas Confessor Highway - already at the completion stage.
NB: Text mine. Photos by Innovate Property and Investments Letters on the map do not indicate the road sections as constructed.
