If you could transform central London into whatever you wanted, what would you do?
Would you go as far as to wipe the slate clean and start again, would you make minor adjustments, would you build up or knock down?
Personally I would like to:
1. Knock down a lot of buildings and start again, mainly council blocks and bland office blocks. Guoman and National Theatre would be definite gonners too.
2. I would probably build modern skyscrapers in clusters similar to what is happening now but slightly more widespread but I would not over do it, the city would largely keep its low skyline.
3. I would clear all the buildings blocking St Pauls from the view of the South Bank so that St Pauls can be appreciated across the city. I'd create a large grassy open space for people to walk and chill out in.
4. Wide inviting walkways would be created all along both sides of the Thames. Quality restaurants and bars would also be built along the Thames which would make most of the views of London.
5. Canary Wharf would triple, quadruple in size.
6. A vast amount of beautiful London townhouses would be built, making London more picturesque.
7. Three or Four monolithic skyscrapers similar to the Shard would be built, spread out over the City.
.........this list could go on forever but that's the gist of my personal choices.
