Italians back Berlusconi....and a comedian

...although which is the comedian it's hard to say. Suffice to say the EU and the market won't be impressed tomorrow morning at all, at all.

Berlusconi's party looks like winning the Senate and may yet even win the lower house too.

A comedian (try not to laugh) who appeared from nowhere and does not even have a party so to speak looks like being king maker after getting huge support but seems to be ruling out coalition with anyone.

But aside from the chaos this will create once again for the eurozone it is just so incredible that Berlusconi is so close to being back in government. How!? What is it with Italians and him? Obviously he is not seen as the buffoon in Italy as he is everywhere else.

It's worst case scenario for Italy. New elections in months seem most likely. The EU's puppet Monti has been humiliated.

It's just hard to get your head around how a country in crisis would put itself deeper in to crisis:dunno:
