Hålogalandsbrua
Hålogalandsbrua is a planned suspension bridge which would cross Rombaksfjorden in Narvik. It would be part of European Route E6 and shorten
the section from Narvik to Bjerkvik by 17 kilometers and from Narvik to Bjørnfjell, along European Route E10 by 5 kilometers. The bridge is
estimated to cost 2.2 billion Norwegian krone. Financing would come from a mix of state grants and tolls. The total length of the bridge will be
1533m with the main span at 1145m. Construction will commence during the spring of 2013 with planned completion in 2016.
The bridge was originally planned to be either a suspension bridge or a symphony bridge, a combination of a suspension bridge, a cable-stayed
bridge and a cantilever bridge, but the latter was dropped in 2008, as it would cost NOK 520 million more. The Norwegian Public Roads
Administration estimated the cost of a suspension bridge in 2012 to NOK 2,480 million. In addition come the costs fro a tunnel between Trældal
and Leirvika, which is estimated at NOK 85 million.
Facts in Norwegian:
Med et spenn på 1145 meter blir Hålogalandsbrua Norges nest lengste hengebru.
